Mokina Talk Privacy Policy

Mokina Talk is developed and operated by MOKIN GROUP LIMITED, New Zealand.

Mokina Talk is designed as a private, local-first journal. Our approach is simple: your journal should remain yours.

The app is not built around storing your personal journal, voice recordings, photos, tasks, ideas, or other journal information on MOKIN GROUP LIMITED servers.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Mokina Talk.

1. Your Journal Data

Your journal information is stored locally on your device.

This may include:

journal entries created by voice or text;
transcribed voice entries;
Tasks;
Ideas;
Remember items;
Other extracted information;
task completion status;
journal dates and search information;
photos attached to journal entries.

Mokina Talk does not operate a server-based database containing your private journal.

MOKIN GROUP LIMITED does not receive or store your journal entries on its own servers.

You remain in control of the content you create in Mokina Talk.

2. Voice Recording and Transcription

Mokina Talk allows you to create journal entries by speaking.

The app uses Apple speech technologies for voice recording and transcription.

Where supported by your iPhone, iOS version and selected recording language, speech recognition may be performed using Apple-supported on-device capabilities.

Available recording languages may vary depending on your iPhone, iOS version and Apple speech support.

Your recording language does not need to be the same as your iPhone display language.

Audio may remain temporarily on your device while a recording is being processed or while an unsuccessful recording is waiting to be retried.

After successful processing, Mokina Talk is designed to preserve your journal entry rather than maintain a permanent archive of voice recordings.

3. AI Organisation

On compatible devices, Mokina Talk can use Apple-provided on-device AI capabilities to organise information from your journal.

For example, Mokina Talk may identify:

Tasks;
Ideas;
things you may want to Remember;
general information;
People;
Dates;
Decisions;
other useful details.

Where supported, this AI processing takes place on your device.

Mokina Talk does not send your private journal entries to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or another third-party generative AI provider for journal analysis.

AI availability and results may vary depending on your iPhone, iOS version, language and Apple system capabilities.

Most importantly, Mokina Talk does not replace your original journal entry with AI-written text.

Your original words remain your journal.

AI-generated organisation is stored separately to help make your journal easier to use and search.

4. Photos

You may choose to attach photos to your journal entries.

Mokina Talk accesses photos only when you choose to use a photo-related feature.

Photos attached to journal entries are stored as part of your journal information on your device.

MOKIN GROUP LIMITED does not receive copies of your journal photos on its own servers.

5. Optional iCloud Backup

Mokina Talk may allow you to enable private iCloud backup.

If you choose to enable this feature, backup information is stored using Apple iCloud services associated with your Apple Account.

The purpose of this feature is to provide private backup without requiring MOKIN GROUP LIMITED to operate its own journal-storage service.

If iCloud Backup is not enabled, your journal remains stored locally on your iPhone.

Use of iCloud is also subject to Apple’s terms, privacy practices, account settings and service availability.

6. Face ID

Mokina Talk may allow you to protect access to the app using Face ID.

Mokina Talk does not receive or store your biometric information.

Face ID authentication is handled by Apple and iOS. Mokina Talk receives only the authentication result required to determine whether access to the app should be allowed.

7. Search and Journal Organisation

Mokina Talk may create local search indexes and structured information to help you find previous journal content.

Search may include information from:

original journal text;
Tasks;
Ideas;
Remember items;
Other extracted information;
People;
Dates;
Decisions;
archived journal content.

This information is maintained as part of the app’s local journal data.

MOKIN GROUP LIMITED does not require your private journal to be uploaded to its servers in order to provide these search features.

8. App Accounts

Mokina Talk does not currently require you to create a Mokina Talk account.

There is no Mokina Talk email-and-password account and no in-app Google or Apple sign-in system for accessing your journal.

Some Apple services used by the app, including App Store subscriptions or optional iCloud services, may require you to be signed into your Apple Account on your iPhone.

Your Apple Account credentials are managed by Apple and are not provided to MOKIN GROUP LIMITED.

9. Subscriptions and Payments

Mokina Talk may offer paid subscriptions through Apple’s App Store.

Payments, renewals and subscription management are handled by Apple.

MOKIN GROUP LIMITED does not receive your Apple Account password or full payment-card information.

You can manage or cancel an App Store subscription through your Apple Account settings.

Refund requests and refund eligibility are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple’s policies and applicable consumer law.

10. Journal Export

Mokina Talk provides options to export your journal information.

These may include:

a human-readable journal export; and
a structured data export.

Exports are created only when you request them.

You may then choose where to save or share the exported information using Apple’s standard sharing tools, for example Files, Notes, iCloud Drive or another application.

Once you choose to export or share information outside Mokina Talk, the destination you select may process that information according to its own privacy practices.

You are responsible for choosing where your exported journal information is stored or shared.

11. Analytics, Advertising and Tracking

The current version of Mokina Talk does not use third-party advertising SDKs, behavioural advertising, cross-app tracking or third-party analytics services to monitor your journal activity.

Mokina Talk does not sell your journal information or personal information to advertisers.

If the way Mokina Talk handles data materially changes in a future version, we will update this Privacy Policy and our App Store privacy disclosures as appropriate.

12. Information We Do Not Collect Through Mokina Talk

Through the current Mokina Talk app, MOKIN GROUP LIMITED does not collect:

your journal entries;
your private voice journal content;
photos attached to your journal;
extracted Tasks, Ideas or Remember items;
biometric information;
advertising identifiers;
browsing history;
your Apple Account password;
your payment-card details.

Permissions such as microphone or photo access allow the requested functionality to operate on your device. Giving the app permission to use these features does not mean that MOKIN GROUP LIMITED receives this information.

13. Support Requests

If you choose to contact Mokina Talk support through our website, you may voluntarily provide information such as:

your name;
email address;
device information;
screenshots;
a description of an issue;
other information you choose to provide.

Information submitted through the MKN Automate support website is separate from your private Mokina Talk journal data.

Support information is used as reasonably necessary to respond to your request, investigate a problem or provide assistance.

Please do not include private journal content in a support request unless it is necessary and you intentionally choose to share it.

14. Data Retention and Deletion

Journal information stored locally remains on your device until you delete individual content, remove applicable app data or delete the app, subject to any backup you have chosen to maintain.

If you use optional iCloud Backup, backup information is also subject to Apple’s iCloud storage and retention mechanisms.

Support information voluntarily submitted through our website may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

respond to your request;
investigate or resolve an issue;
maintain reasonable support records;
meet legal obligations;
resolve disputes.

15. Children

Mokina Talk is a general-purpose personal journal and is not specifically designed or marketed as a children’s service.

The current version of the app does not operate a MOKIN GROUP LIMITED server-based system for collecting users’ private journal content.

16. Security

Mokina Talk uses Apple platform technologies and iOS security capabilities to support the protection of information stored on your device.

Optional features such as Face ID can provide additional protection against unauthorised access to the app.

However, no device or digital storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security on your iPhone and Apple Account.

17. Apple Services

Mokina Talk relies on Apple technologies and services for some functionality, including:

operating-system security;
speech recognition;
on-device AI features where available;
Face ID;
App Store subscriptions and purchases;
optional iCloud services.

Use of these Apple services may also be governed by Apple’s applicable terms and privacy policies.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when:

Mokina Talk changes;
new features are introduced;
the way information is handled changes;
legal or regulatory requirements change.

The latest version of this Privacy Policy will be published on this page with an updated effective date.

If a future update materially changes how data is collected or handled, we will also update the relevant App Store privacy disclosures where required.
